Hamas issued a statement following Trump’s victory, addressing the new U.S. administration

Hamas stated that U.S. policy would shape its stance toward the new U.S. administration after Donald Trump declared victory in the presidential election held yesterday.

“We affirm that our position on the new U.S. administration depends on its practical actions toward the Palestinian people, their legitimate rights, and issues,” the Hamas statement said.

They added that all previous U.S. administrations had supported Israeli occupation.

The group also stated that U.S. political and military backing for Israel “confirmed its role as a full partner in the killing of tens of thousands of our people, including children, women, and the elderly.”

Hamas called on the incoming U.S. administration to “listen to the voices of the American public… who reject occupation, genocide, and support and bias toward Israel.”

During his first term in the White House from 2017 to 2021, Trump provided unwavering support to Israel, including moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Al-Quds/Jerusalem, a move that was followed by several countries.

Israel has continued its devastating offensive on Gaza since the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, killing nearly 43,400 people and making the enclave nearly uninhabitable.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in the besieged enclave.
