(Reuters) – Following are security developments in Iraq at 1330 GMT on Sunday.

* BAGHDAD – U.S. forces detained 15 suspected insurgents on Saturday and Sunday in operations targeting al-Qaeda in northern and central Iraq, the U.S. military said.

* BALAD – Iraqi security forces captured a suspected member of al-Qaeda on August 1 in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

* BALAD – Iraqi security forces captured three suspected members of “special groups,” the term it uses for Iranian-backed Shi’ite militias, in central Iraq, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD – A car bomb killed 12 people and wounded 22 in the Adhamiya district of northern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD – Nine people, including three policemen, were wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near a police patrol in eastern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD – Two people were wounded by a roadside bomb in the Ghadir district of eastern Baghdad, police said.

BAQUBA – Iraqi security forces detained three men suspected of being senior al Qaeda leaders in a village north of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast of Baghdad, a security source said. During the same operation on Saturday, eight suspected al Qaeda militants surrendered to Iraqi security forces.
