Athens. Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis will try to regain his popularity rating and put an end to the claims about early elections by paying a series of visits abroad over the next two months.
On March 18-19 he is to visit Belgian capital to attend the regular session of the Council of the EU, and on April 2-4 he will be in Strasbourg to join NATO summit and try to meet, even for a short time, with U.S. President Barack Obama.
On April 5 Karamanlis and Obama will be in Prague for the EU-U.S. summit. On April 9 the Greek PM is to visit Paris to meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy and on April 22-23 he is to pay an official visit to Cyprus. From Nicosia PM Karamanlis will head for Bulgaria where on April 24-25 a natural gas summit will take place.
On April 29 he is scheduled to visit Warsaw to attend the European People’s Party meeting. On May 7 he will participate in an international conference on Eastern Europe in Prague.
