Serbian Deputy PM meets with Greek FM

Greece will “certainly support Serbia’s efforts to become EU candidate and receive the date of the beginning of the relevant negotiations”, says Božidar Đelić.

The Serbian deputy prime minister for European integrations made the statement after a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas in Athens.

“When Serbia fulfills the action plan and proves its full cooperation with The Hague tribunal, we are confident that the voice of Greece will be in favor of our candidate status, but also of the commencement of negotiations for EU membership,” Đelić pointed out.

He handed the Greek minister a document coordinated by the Western Balkan countries on the future EU financial support for the region.

According to Đelić, the document could be an integral part of Agenda 2014, which was initiated by Greece within the EU to help step up the integration of the Western Balkans.

Đelić, who is also Minister of Science and Technological Development, heading an economic delegation of 15 Serbian companies, said that Greece was coming out of the economic crisis and that the following year, given a great support from the international community, should be a year of development for the country.
