Macedonia-EU joint parliament committee set to adopt final recommendations

The two-day meeting of the Macedonia-EU Joint Parliamentary Committee will be completed with Friday’s adoption of the final recommendations.

Macedonia should get a date for opening of the EU-accession talks and its integration processes must not be held hostage by bilateral problems.

This is the message voiced Thursday by Vice Premier for European Affairs Teuta Arifi, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, co-chairman Kenan Hasipi and MP Andrej Petrov at the 9. meeting of the EU-Macedonia Joint Parliamentary Committee in Skopje.

Getting a date for starting the accession talks is Macedonia’s strategic priority, Arifi said. Despite of the EC recommendation to that effect for third year in row, the talks do not commence due to the political issue with Greece, she added.
