German Chancellor Angela Merkel joined Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker in saying Friday that Greece would only receive a 130-billion-euro (174.4-billion-dollar) bailout after it meets a tough round of conditions.
Speaking days before a summit of European leaders and a key vote in the parliament in Berlin on the bailout, Merkel said: ‘We are now pursuing … that the voluntary debt restructuring goes well and that the tranches can be released provided that Greece’s meets its obligations.’
Merkel ruled out Greece leaving the eurozone or Athens being forced into default.
