Russian and US chemical weapons experts and top diplomats will attend a meeting on the Syrian crisis later today that will be held in Switzerland, Russia’s foreign minister said Thursday.
“Both we and Americans are bringing to Geneva delegations of experts that have all the necessary knowledge and experience to define the paths to resolving such problems,” Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
The hastily organized talks that will take place later Thursday will address Moscow’s plan to obviate a US attack on Syria by placing Damascus’ chemical weapons under international control. The talks are scheduled to run for at least two days, with pundits predicting that they could run into next week.
