EU pledges support for Ukraine’s energy needs

EU “provide financial support” of Ukraine and help “ensure energy supply.”

The decision was announced by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, at a press conference.

She stressed the commitment of the EU to the financial stabilization of the country.

Ashton reiterated the determination of the European Union to support “escalation” and “territorial integrity” of Ukraine.

Earlier on Monday, EU and U.S. sanctions against Russian and Ukrainian officials agreed on the standoff in the region of Ukraine and Crimea holding a separatist referendum.
