Chinese ambassador to Tehran, Liu Zhentang, said on Sunday that “China will never do anything against Iran’s interests”. “China wants a powerful and developed Iran in the region,” Liu said in a meeting with Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, Tehran Times reported.
“The development of Iran would benefit peace and security in the world,” the ambassador noted.
He also noted that Iran is the second richest country in terms of oil and gas resources and China will be Iran’s biggest market in the future.
Iranian parliament speaker also said there has been a dramatic rise in Iran-China relations. He said such a jump in trade ties has been unprecedented in Iran’s relations with the outside world.
Haddad Adel said the United States is seeking to gain control over the Middle East oil and gas resources and use this dominion as a winning card against other countries like China.
