Tunisia will participate in the 3rd meeting of the High Level Committee of the African Union (AU) on the Libyan crisis, scheduled for Saturday, September 9, in Congo-Brazzaville. Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui will head the Tunisian delegation to the meeting as representative of President Béji Caïd Essebsi.

Egypt’s military will host a biennial exercise with the US army next week for the first time since 2009, it said in a statement on Tuesday. The Bright Star exercise, scheduled every two years since 1981, will take place this year from September 10 to 20, it said.

South Sudan says it is asking the United States to reconsider the sanctions it has imposed on two senior government members, a former official and three companies. Foreign ministry spokesperson Mawien Makol calls the sanctions announced on Wednesday “very unfortunate”.
