Syrian opposition sends delegation to Geneva for peace talks

The main Western-backed Syrian opposition group says it has sent a delegation to Geneva for consultations ahead of proposed peace talks.

An official with the Syrian National Coalition said Saturday that the small delegation plans to meet with U.S. and Russian diplomats, as well as the United Nations and Arab League envoy to Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak on the record.

Earlier this month, the SNC conditionally agreed to attend the Geneva talks that the U.S. and Russia plan to hold by the end of the year.
