Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have given orders for work on creating a free trade zone between Ukraine and Turkey to be expedited, Erdogan said in Kyiv, after talks with Poroshenko.

“We decided to sign this agreement on creating a free trade zone as soon as possible, the work for which is at the final stage,” Erdogan said.

Turkey hopes that trade with Ukraine will reach $20 billion by 2023, Erdogan has said.

Following talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Friday, he said that trade between the two countries accounted for $1.3 billion ten years ago.

According to Erdogan, trade and economic cooperation was one of the main subjects of the talks.
