Kano – Deadly clashes erupted between military and Shiite Muslims in Zaria, northern Nigeria, which has also left the group headquarters and destroyed the house of his head, witnesses said on Sunday.

Armed soldiers carried crackdown on the pro-Iranian Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) following an incident on Saturday, the convoy of Chief of Staff of the Army.

IMN, which seeks to establish an Islamic state through an Iranian style revolution, was at odds with the secular authorities in Nigeria, leading to sometimes violent confrontations.

The leader of the group, Ibrahim Zakzaky, has regularly been imprisoned for alleged incitement and subversion.

Northern Nigeria is predominantly Muslim and predominantly Sunni.

The spokesman Musa Ibrahim IMN claimed dozens of group members were killed when soldiers opened fire and “hundreds more were injured and arrested,” when Zakzaky house and mosque of the sect were attacked.
