Supreme Leader: US Interests Damaged in Case of Military Attacks on Iran

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Wednesday reiterated that US interests will see severe damage if it embarks on aggression against Iran. Addressing thousands of laborers from across the country in Tehran on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei described the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people as proponents of peace and tranquility, adding, “The nation and system of the Islamic Republic is not based on belligerence. The US must know that if it assaults Iran, it would have to pay dearly for Tehran would respond to any sort of belligerence twice as strong.”

The Supreme Leader touched upon the long-term threatening policies of the US in the past 27 years, saying, “The language of US statesmen is based on threat and intimidation, but the Iranian nation and government are aware enough not to give in to such rhetoric.”

Ayatollah Khamenei pointed to Iran’s scientific progress, and said, “After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, the great Iranian nation has proven its talent and skill in different fields, and this is what has confused our enemies.”

Elsewhere in his speech, the Supreme Leader termed the effort for constructing the country as the best means for fighting the enemies.

He pointed that the enemies have become hopeless in attempting to sow the seed of sedition among Iranian people, saying, “Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is carrying out its obligations with more endeavor, resolve, awareness, discipline and spirituality than ever before, so as it were in the past, it could foil the evil plots of its adversaries.”
