Algiers – The bodies of 38 people were found in a cave in eastern Algeria following weeks of military operations against suspected terrorists in the North African country, local press reports said Monday.
Two leading terrorists were reported to be among the dead that also apparently included 21 children and seven women.
The badly-decomposed bodies of the dead, some of whom were thought to have been used by the alleged terrorists as human shields during fighting with the Algerian army, were found on Saturday at the entrance to a cave.
Last week already, 10 terrorists were killed by the army.
About 100 terrorists are thought to be still active in Algeria, according to the interior ministry. – Sapa-dpa
