Iran to Build Power Plants in Iraq

A0111307.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran took up in a memorandum of understanding signed here on Monday to assist Iraq with the technical and feasibility studies and commissioning of power generation projects and construction of combined cycle, gas and steam power plants.

According to the MoU which was inked by the two countries’ Power Ministers, Iran is ready to transfer, distribute and sell electricity to Iraq, and construct combined cycle, gas and steam power plants in that country.

The two sides are also due to render cooperation in the scientific, training and research grounds through arranging different specialized courses, conducting joint research projects, exchanging information and experiences, transfer of the technical know-how, scientific and expert visits to power installations and facilities, holding specialized power fairs and exhibitions and arranging power-related conventions.

The two sides also reached consensus over participation of Iranian power industry companies in the construction of projects and in the provision of the various electrical instruments and equipment for Iraq, while the contract for the purchase of Iran’s electricity by Iraq via the power line from Iran’s ‘Sare Pole Zahab’ to Iraq’s Khaneqein’ was also extended.
