Supreme Leader Calls for Muslim Unity against US

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei stressed that the only way for the world Muslims to encounter the US and get rid of her pressures lies in their solidarity and collective expression of their hatred for the US administration.

Addressing a group of Muslim thinkers and clerics from the different Islamic countries who have convened in Tehran to attend the 19th International Conference on Islamic Solidarity, the supreme Leader noted the extensive wave of Islamic vigilance and revival of Islamic identity and stressed that thinkers, intellectuals and political leaders of Muslim states should endeavor to use the present exceptional opportunity and inform the world of Islam of its hidden power and potentials, adding, “And relying on this gigantic public support and power, they must stand up to the pressures and threats of the enemies and move along the track towards scientific, political, cultural and economic progress and advancement.”

Describing discord among Muslims as a dangerous disease threatening the Islamic Ummah (nation) he said enemies have hatched a plot to prevent Islamic solidarity and to dominate Muslim countries.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the issues of Palestine and Iraq and tens of other problems imposed on the world of Islam all originate from the discord existing among the Muslim populations, and called for the compilation of a charter on the practical measures required for increasing Islamic unity and solidarity, stressing that such a goal may not be achieved unless firm practical measures are adopted.

Meantime, he reminded that the enemy, including the United States, is strongly opposed to the progress of the Muslim community in any area, and pointed out, “As regards Iran’s nuclear issue, everyone knows that Iran is not seeking access to nuclear weapons, yet the west exerts maximum pressure on us to block acquisition of science and technology by a Muslim country.”

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution stressed that despite all the pressures laid on his country, Iran is decisive to mightily move ahead on the same path it has already adopted in the domain of the nuclear energy.

He said that the victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah over the Zionist regime has set a very good example in showing that if Muslim states rely on the power of their public masses, no power may be able to stand up to them.
