Ahmadinejad calls for restoring dignity of Islamic countries

Outgoing Omani Ambassador to Tehran Abdullah bin Salem bin al-Shanfari here Sunday called on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to discuss issues of mutual interest.

According to the Press Bureau of the Presidential Office, at the meeting, President Ahmadinejad said that the progress of each Islamic country is regarded as the development of Muslims worldwide.

Given the capabilities and talents of Islamic nations, he said the current status of Islamic nations is beneath their dignity which should be restored through unity and solidarity.

“The enemies of Islamic Ummah, who are afraid of their unity and solidarity, sow seeds of discord among them to harm existing ties among them,” he said.

The outgoing Omani ambassador, for his part, lauded the cooperation of Iranian officials during his tenure and called the Islamic Republic of Iran as a big and powerful country in the region.

“We have witnessed expansion of economic and political ties between the two sides,” he said adding that his country is willing to further broaden ties with Tehran.
