President: Implementation of justice a priority of 9th gov’t

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said here Tuesday that implementation of justice is one of the main priorities of his government.

President Ahmadinejad’s remark were heard at a meeting with high-ranking officials of the three branches of the government in the presence of Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

“The government has tried to fairly distribute state credits, banking facilities and assets of the Foreign Exchange Reserve Fund among the people in the past year. Implementation of justice will come next once the ground is prepared,” Ahmadinejad said.

He cited his government’s battle against economic corruption as among its serious and continuing programs aimed at implementing justice, saying the “campaign against economic corruption is a necessity in order to attract investment and secure current investment.”
He pointed to efforts of the 9th government to solve national problems such as unemployment, facilitating marriage, providing housing for the youth, fairly distributing banking facilities at lower cost, establishing the Mehr Imam Reza Marriage Fund and providing support for short-term, profit-making activities in the non-oil sector, and said that “non-oil exports of the country received 40 and 58.5 percent boosts in the last six months of the previous Iranian calendar year and first six months of the current year, respectively.”
The president, moreover, said that among measures his government has approved are construction of 200,000 houses in villages, lowering prices for houses still to be constructed from prices of houses ready for occupancy, 101 percent increase in investment in the industry sector, cash payment for main agricultural products and a three percent boost in investment in the agricultural sector.

He also cited the growth in the forex exchange market, decentralization of the capital Tehran, decrease in government spending, increase in pensions of retired people, hike in the development budget, efforts to control inflation, reform in the cultural sector, boost in tourism activities, better transport managment and lower fuel consumption as among other achievements of his government in the past year.

Ahmadinejad said that he and his cabinet members paid visits to 19 provinces last year, adding that 60 percent of 3,300 measures approved during these visits have been materialized.

Pointing to the 9th government’s achievements in foreign policy and the Iran nuclear issue, he said the country’s nuclear right has been defended successfully in the past year relying on the guidelines of the Supreme Leader.

“Despite the negative propaganda and pressures exerted by international powers, 118 member states of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), 57 Islamic states, leaders of the Group of Eight developing nations (D-8) and members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) have expressed clear support for Iran’s right to pursue nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.”
Ahmadinejad, who is also chairman of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), pointed out that “the Islamic Republic of Iran has always used every opportunity to hold talks and cooperate on its nuclear case and will continue this policy.”
“Iran’s proposal establishes an appropriate framework for exchange of views on its nuclear case. The Iranian nation will continue its path fearlessly and with dignity, resistance and wisdom,” he said.
