The US Secretary of Defense in a statement on Monday said that an Iranian national who had been imprisoned at Guantanamo Bay was released but spared any further details about the identity of the said individual.

Around 440 inmates, who are totally deprived of the international POW rights including those stressed in the Geneva Treaties on POWs, are still incarcerated in the US Mediaeval-type prison in Guantanamo Bay in southeast Cuba, where they are tortured to death.
