FM Warns West not to Adopt a Hostile Approach

A02328901.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Saturday called on Iran’s negotiating counterparties to refrain from referring Tehran’s nuclear case to the UN Security Council and to return the case to the IAEA Board of Governors.

Speaking in a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart, Mottaki viewed sanctions as an improper solution to his country’s nuclear case, and warned the other party against adoption of a belligerent approach towards Iran.

He advised the West to return to the negotiation table to continue with the two sides’ constructive and honest talks, and asked them to avoid moving on a path which they have already experienced.

Stressing that Iran does not view suspension of its uranium enrichment activities as logical, the diplomat reminded that Iran’s enrichment activities comply with the law and that it is a right reserved by all the members of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), including Iran.

He pointed out that the US and Britain have adopted fully illegal, illogical and hostile stances on Iran’s nuclear issue, and asserted that the said two states are behind the threats which are posed to Iran, including the issue with the UNSC resolutions and such other threatening and belligerent measures as sanctions.
