TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Tehran’s Interim Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani warned the western powers not to endanger the region when dealing with Iran’s nuclear case.
Addressing a large and fervent congregation of the people on Tehran University Campus here today, Rafsanjani pointed out during the second sermon of his Friday Prayers speech that the same powers who are exerting so many pressures on Iran to deprive the Iranian nation of its inalienable nuclear rights, have shown full support for the Zionist regime’s nuclear ambitions and allow the forged regime of Israel to produce nuclear bombs and weapons.
“This is extreme discrimination, which makes the present situation intolerable for Iran,” he said, while stressing the point that Tehran makes its utmost efforts to settle the nuclear case through negotiations and other diplomatic means.
The chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council said that the Iranian nation will no doubt defend its indispensable rights, adding that the ruling system will not either withdraw from the Iranian nation’s right to peaceful use of nuclear energy, while it will also strive to resolve the case through talks.
He advised the United Nations Security Council not to drive the entire region towards danger by adopting wrong measures and policies in the face of Iran’s nuclear dossier.
Meantime, Rafsanjani said even though the West has succeeded in reaching a consensus over Iran at the UN Security Council, it must be aware that any harsh decision about Iran will serve to be detrimental to all parties.
“Apparently, the other party is determined to raise Iran’s nuclear case at the Security Council. If they do so, they must be aware that they (the parties negotiating with Iran), the entire region and the Islamic Republic of Iran all will have to sustain the damage to be thus incurred,” the cleric underscored.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rafsanjani criticized the United Nations for playing a major role in the aggressions against the oppressed Palestinian nation and said, “The first UN resolution on Palestine in which the UN transferred sovereignty of that country to Britain was the basis for all the future oppressions and aggressions against the Palestinian nation.”
He also lashed out at the United Nations for not taking any action against the Israeli regime, after Zionists disregarded the UN resolutions on so many occasions.
Rafsanjani also blasted the western powers and said, “The US has vetoed more than 30 UNSC resolutions, while Washington has also prevented 500 other resolutions passed against Israel from being exercised.”
Meantime, he called on the media to scrutinize the raison detre for the creation of the forged Israeli regime, saying that Israel was formed as a multi-purpose base for the West, the US in particular, the first and main mission of which has been to disturb the situation in the region.
Rafsanjani condemned the Zionists’ crimes against the Palestinians and the Lebanese and called on the Islamic world to show unity and solidarity to help Palestinians restore their rights and liberate the holy Qods.
