Iran to Start Heavy Vehicle Assembly Lines in Africa

A0022042.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran-Khodro Diesel Company is due to start manufacture of its heavy vehicles in Senegal and Sudan, a factory official said here on Saturday.

Speaking to FNA, Managing Director of Iran-Khodro Diesel Heavy Vehicles-Manufacturing Company Majid Sheikhani said that the assembly lines in the two African countries constitute a measure aimed at securing extensive presence of his company in the world market.

Iran-Khodro has decided to manufacture various types of heavy vehicles, including trucks and buses, in Senegal and Sudan, which will just enter the domestic markets of the said two countries.

He also stated that his company intends to also start an assembly line in Ethiopia in the near future.

Sheikhani also mentioned that Iran-Khodro Diesel has centered all its activities on gaining access to the heavy vehicle markets of the African and Middle-Eastern countries.

To conclude his words, the official expressed the hope that the company would export $40 million worth of trucks and buses in the current year.
