Iran Forwards Note to UNSC Members

A02608619.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said here on Monday that Tehran has forwarded letters of similar contents to the 14 permanent and non-permanent UN Security Council member states to protest at a recent resolution passed by the UNSC against its nuclear activities.

“We have expressed our protest against the vote cast by these countries in favor the UN Security Council resolution,” Mottaki said during a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart Walid Mualem here today.

His remarks are viewed as a reaction to the recent statements made by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who spoke of the likely intensification of punitive measures against Iran in an upcoming meeting of the UNSC members.

“No international decision should ever deprive countries of their inalienable rights,” the Iranian minister stressed.

Reminding that Iran is a big country, he said, “We do not think that certain countries are ready to deprive themselves of the extensive relations that they maintain with Iran.”
