Iranian, Saudi FMs Discuss Regional Developments

A02430612.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and his Saudi counterpart Saud al-Faysal bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud discussed the latest developments of Lebanon and the region during a phone conversation on Wednesday.

The two sides stressed the need for continued consultations and exchange of views to assist the Lebanese in attaining a solution, which could be palatable to both sides, to end the current crisis.

They also reiterated the necessity for the regional countries to show enhanced cooperation to help the Iraqi government restore peace, stability and security in that country.

Also during the phone talk, Saud al-Faysal praised Mottaki’s proposal for the holding of a ministerial meeting of Iraq’s neighboring states in Baghdad, and pointed out that the summit could be soon held as a result of increased exchange of views and adoption of follow up measures by the Iraqi foreign minister.

The two foreign ministers also pointed to the positive trend of Iran-Saudi Arabia relations, and underlined the need for the deepening of mutual ties and interests, while they also called for continued consultations and exchange of views.
