Speaking to reporters after a council session here on Saturday, Reza’ee responded to a question about his assessment of the present standoff between Iran and the United States, and said, “Iran enjoys a full capability of deterrence and it can even defuse any plot or threat posed to it.”

“We enjoy powerful levers for encountering and rejecting threats. Europeans have several times asked us to help them with the issue of Lebanon, while Americans are in desperate need of our help in Iraq, and they have demanded our assistance in this regard several times so far,” he continued.

The former commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) further viewed US threats posed to Iran as completely serious, and added, “They intend to confront us and they have started with economic and political issues.”
