Iran, Kosovo on agenda at EU meeting

European Union foreign ministers meeting in Brussels are to step up pressure on Iran over its nuclear programme. The 27 ministers have pledged to strictly implement United Nations sanctions against Teheran, something that was already basically agreed upon in January.

Diplomats say they did however resist pressure from the United States and Britain to go further at this stage. The ministers are also set to back UN mediator Martti Ahtisaari’s plan for the Serb province of Kosovo. The plan envisages limited independence for the province.
