Iraq: Two Germans confirmed missing

In Iraq, two German citizens have gone missing. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said shortly before a meeting with his EU counterparts in Brussels that the two Germans had been missing for one week.

He said it was unclear whether they had been kidnapped, but that the German Federal Office’s crisis management group was addressing the problem. It would be the third kidnapping of German citizens following that of Susanne Osthoff in 2005, and René Bräunlich and Thomas Nitzschke in 2006.
