Iran’s Economic Decisions not Deterred by Political Pressures

Iran has decided to take square strides in its economic activities and transient political pressures cannot deter Tehran from making progress. Speaking to FNA here on Monday, Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) International Affairs Office Hojjatollah Ghanimi-fard reminded that ever since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the United States has always exerted pressure on different oil companies to avoid their investment and activity in the Islamic Republic.

“But owing to Iran’s logical attitudes, all the said pressures have remained ineffective,” he continued.

The official further pointed out that holding agreements with different world countries and enterprises sets a major goal for the Iranian oil industry, adding that the Islamic Republic has decided to take strong strides in line with its long-term views and periodic political pressures may not deter Tehran from practicing its decisions.

He also mentioned that Iran’s exports illustrate an increase in 2006-7 compared with the figures in 2005-6, meaning that international trade partners recognize Iran as a reliable partner.

He also expressed the hope that Iran would increase its LPG, liquefied gas and oil products in the current year.

The oil official also reminded that the results of international studies suggest that Iran has the second largest oil reserves in the world, and said that there are still more oil reserves to be explored in Iran, adding, “And these explorations enhance Iran’s status in the international scene of energy, keeping Iran as a major actor in the world energy supplies.
