Iran Acts upon 1971 MoU

Tehran always seeks to remove the possible misunderstandings between the two states through talks and based on the 1971 Memorandum of Understanding, Iran’s envoy to the Inter-Parliamentary Union meeting in Indonesia said following allegations raised by the UAE’s representative about Iran’s three Persian Gulf islands. The Iranian delegate, Ali Danesh Monfared, who is on the Indonesian island of Bali to attend the 116th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), reiterated his country’s loyalty to the said MoU, and voiced Tehran’s preparedness to remove misunderstandings about the three Iranian islands of Abu Musa, the Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb.

“Expansion of ties with all the world countries, particularly neighboring states, and pursuing the good neighborly relations sets Iran’s main policy,” the Iranian MP underscored.

He also reminded that any person even with the least historical knowledge and information is well informed of the role of Iran’s several-thousand-year-old civilization in the creation and promotion of man’s civilization.
