Tehran Prosecutor General Confirms Detention of N. Negotiator

Tehran’s public and revolutionary prosecutor said that Iran’s intelligence ministry is responsible for the verification of the accusations charged against the country’s former nuclear negotiator Hossein Mousavian. Confirming the detention of the country’s chief nuclear negotiator at the time of Rafsanjani’s presidency, Sa’eed Mortazavi told reporters that Mousavian is presently behind bars in Tehran’s Evin Prison.

“According to article 188 of the law, nothing could be said about what he has been charged with or the causes of his arrest until the final investigations are carried out,” he said.

The judiciary official declined to comment on the case and spared the details of the case, saying that Mousavian’s accusations will be released to the media once the final investigations are carried out and the court issues its ruling.

Before detention, Mousaivian was the deputy head of the Strategic Research Center of Iran’s State Expediency Council run under former President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
