Quake Hits Northern Iran

A009543015.jpgAn earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted the southern parts of the city of Garmsar in Iran’s northern province of Semnan on Saturday. Semnan’s seismological network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University registered the quake at 13:37:36 hours local time (10:07:36 GMT).

No reports have yet been received on the possible number of casualties or damage to properties by the quake.

The tremor was also felt in Tehran province.

The National Seismological Center affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University reported that a similar quake with the magnitude of 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted Javad Abad in Tehran province at 13:37:36 hours local time (10:07:36 GMT).

The quake did not cause any casualty or damage to properties in Tehran province.

Meantime, the National Seismological Center reported two more tremors measuring 1.2 and 1.5 on the Richter scale in the town of Sorkheh in Semnan province on Saturday.
