Iran’s Economic Growth Rate Exceeds 7%

A01352325.jpgIran’s economic growth last year surpassed 7%, said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here on Wednesday. Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a ceremony here today to honor the efforts of the previous Central Bank Governor, Ebrahim Sheybani and inaugurate the new head of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Tahmasb Mazaheri.

Mazaheri, who had previously served as the Governor of the Export Development Bank of Iran and also as economy minister during the reformist presidency of Mohammad Khatami, was appointed after the resignation of previous governor Ebrahim Sheibani.

The inaugural ceremony was also attended by First Vice-President Parviz Davoudi, Government Spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham and Minister of Economy and Financial Affairs Davoud Danesh Jafari.
