Ahmadinejad Stresses Use of N. Energy by All Independent States

All independent nations should be able to make use of the nuclear energy, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with the Philippines’ new ambassador to Tehran, Alaeddin Vilacorte, here on Monday. During the meeting, Ahmadinejad appreciated the Philippines for supporting and defending Iran’s nuclear rights, and said, “Iran believes that all independent nations should use nuclear energy because using this technology in agriculture, industry, power and medicine is very necessary today and because it serves welfare and progress of nations.”

He further described Iran-Philippines relations as friendly and lasting, and voiced Tehran’s enthusiasm for expanding and deepening mutual ties with Manila in all the different grounds.

The president also expressed the hope that all nations, particularly that of the Philippines, would reach prosperity and progress.

For his part, Vilacorte viewed the two countries’ age-old relations as good, and hoped that Tehran-Manila ties would further expand in all areas.

He further voiced support for Iran’s nuclear rights, and stressed, “Every nation is entitled to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.”

To conclude his words, the envoy praised Iran’s efforts to help establish regional and international peace and stability.
