Iran, Syria Bolster Industrial Cooperation

A002198011.jpgIran’s Acting Mines and Industry Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian has described his meeting with President Bashar al-Assad as “good, constructive and cordial”. “Prospects of industrial cooperation and agreements signed between the two countries were also reviewed during the meeting “, Mehrabian added.

The statement was made on Wednesday by the Iranian official and Industry Minister Fouad Issa Jouni at the conclusion of the7th session of the meetings of the Syrian-Iranian Joint Industrial Committee, where the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on bolstering cooperation between them.

Jouni stressed the deep-rooted relations between Syria and Iran and the necessity of boosting them in all domains.

The MoU states that industrialists of the two countries will meet to explore prospects of bilateral cooperation with Iranian Industrial Exhibition in Syria.

Syria will also hold a similar industrial exhibition in Iran, and the interval between the two economic events would be six months, the memo added.

The MoU allows Iran to establish joint factories in Homs, central Syria, for production of passenger cars, busses, and trailers, as well as chemical fertilizes.

In the same context, Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Hosni Lutfi discussed with Mehrabian means of developing trade, economical and investment relations between the two countries.

Talks during their meeting dealt with the importance of holding the meetings of the Syrian-Iranian joint Committee on boosting cooperation between the two countries in all domains.
