Undersecretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Javad Vaeedi rejected reports about the existence of a secret nuclear center in his country as baseless. “While the start of a new round of cooperation between Iran and the (International Atomic Energy) Agency and the active and constructive presence of the Iranian president at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York have created a positive atmosphere which has ruled out possibility for the adoption of negative and belligerent measures against Iran through the UN Security Council, the release of such untruthful and unfounded reports on the threshold of the next 5+1 meeting in New York is merely aimed at providing an excuse for distorting and undermining the present positive atmosphere which has been created by Iran’s good intentions and constructive stances and initiatives,” Vaeedi underlined.
The Group 5+1 – the five permanent UN Security Council members (the US, Britain, France, Russia and China) plus Germany – is scheduled to convene in New York this week to discuss the latest developments in Iran’s nuclear case.
