Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, in a meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York, said that the whole world endorses the righteousness of Ahmadinejad’s address to the US Columbia University. During the meeting on Wednesday afternoon, the Qatari Emir called on the Iranian president to increase his contacts and relations with the public opinion in the US and inform the American nation of his ideas very explicitly.
“Despite all the obstacles the US administration created to prevent your contact with the media, thinking groups, scholars and church leaders, your presence in the US was a great success,” he reiterated, adding, “Americans and the world people heard your words at Columbia University and endorsed the righteousness of your statements.”
Elsewhere, the Qatari Emir viewed Tehran-Doha ties as positive, and called for the growing enhancement of the two countries’ ties and cooperation.
For his part, the Iranian president thanked the positive stances of the Qatari Emir on Iran, and described Tehran-Doha relations as progressive.
He further called for growing ties among Islamic and regional states.
Ahmadinejad also reiterated the right stances of the Iranian nation and government on different issues, and underscored that Tehran would not retreat from its stances even for one single step.
Meantime, he reminded that the Iranian nation and government seeks peace and friendship, saying that the historical background of the Iranians substantiates the peaceful nature of the Iranian nation.
