Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a meeting here on Tuesday conveyed a message from Vladimir Putin to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. During the meeting, the Iranian president reiterated Tehran’s principled stances for developing all-out ties with Moscow, saying, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously determined to develop its relations with Russia.”
Elsewhere, Ahmadinejad underlined his country’s continued nuclear activities for peaceful purposes within the international rules and under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“Tehran is determined to continue cooperation with the agency,” he also added.
For his part, the Russian foreign minister laid emphasis on the expansion of bilateral ties between the two nations, and congratulated Ahmadinejad on the successful arrangement of the recent Caspian Sea summit in Tehran.
Lavrov further called for continued interaction and cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear watchdog agency.
He also stressed the need for the bolstering of his country’s cooperation with Iran in all the different areas.
