Rafsanjani Proposes Unity for Iraq

The Assembly of Experts Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani here on Wednesday called unity between religious, tribal, and political groups as the most important way to stand against foreign imperialism.

“A good opportunity for the people of Iraq so to regain authority and control has posed itself; if this opportunity is not used correctly, it can become a threat for the country,” Rafsanjani told the chairman of the Iraqi Fazilat Party Hassan al-Shambari.

Some powers were trying to prevent the establishment of a true Islamic democracy in Iraq, the Expediency Council chairman noted, adding that Iran was pleased that dictatorship in Iraq had ended.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been prepared to aid resolve problems in Iraq, he stated.
