The new ambassador of Cyprus met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday. During the meeting the two sides discussed latest developments in bilateral ties and exchanged views about other issues of mutual interest, a statement released by the Foreign Ministry’s Information and Press Bureau said.
Also in the meeting, the Iranian top diplomat noted the current volume of the two countries’ economic cooperation, and called for an increased use of the ample potentials existing for the expansion of mutual ties, specially in the investment and trade sector.
He further stressed the need for continued exchange of political views and consultations, viewing Iran-Cyprus cooperation in international issues as useful and valuable.
Mottaki also said residence of a considerable number of Iranian students in Cyprus helps the two nations gain an improved knowledge of each other, and described it as a proper ground for enhancing mutual ties.
For his part, the Cypriot envoy viewed Iran as a great and significant country in the region, and said he was assigned to promote the two countries’ relations in different grounds.
