Speaking in a meeting with a senior military delegation from Oman here in Tehran on Monday, chief of Iranian army’s joint staff noted the necessity for regular meetings among military officials of Muslim nations, and said such consultations and talks would boost cooperation and enhance security in the region.

“Iran is so keen on developing relations with the regional countries that we have officially announced our preparedness to hold multiple defensive treaties with the regional states,” General Abdol-rahim Moussavi underlined.

He also noted Oman’s enthusiasm for expanding military cooperation with the Islamic Republic, and voiced Tehran’s readiness to transfer its war experiences as well as recent achievements to Manama.

“Cooperation of regional countries in military grounds does not pose a threat to other regional states,” the General said, stressing that such cooperation “would establish and maintain security”.

“But presence of alien countries is an insult to the regional nations,” he added.

General Moussavi further pointed to the criminal and hegemonic nature of the alien troops deployed in the Middle-East region, and said, “They have specified an expiry date even for their own fellow comrades in this region.”

For his part, head of Oman’s visiting military delegation General Saud Bin Soleyman Bin Naser al-Hasbi voiced pleasure in his visit to Tehran, and said he was “fully satisfied with the course of interactions and agreements gained during his talks with the officials of the Iranian armed forces”.
