TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov voiced Moscow’s support for continued cooperation between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), reiterating that his country’s demand for a full settlement of Iran’s nuclear issue.
“We demand a full settlement of all issues related to Iran’s nuclear case,” Lavrov said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki in Moscow on Thursday.
He also stressed that Iran’s nuclear issue “should be resolved on the basis of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and IAEA regulations”.
Meantime, the top diplomat underlined that any solution to Iran’s nuclear case should stipulate and emphasize Tehran’s right to make a peaceful use of the nuclear energy.
“Russia renders support to Iran-Agency cooperation and any other solution which can lead to the settlement of all remaining issues,” he added.
Lavrov also viewed Iran-Russia relations as an indication of their proper mutual understanding, adding that all the issues pertaining to Tehran-Moscow relations as well as the agreements held during a recent visit to Tehran by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, are on Moscow’s agenda.
He further stated Russia’s support for Iran’s active role in the settlement of regional issues and conflicts in the Middle and Far East.
“Russia supports participation of Iran, as a modifying country, in the process for the settlement of these issues,” the Russian minister said.
