Iranian Envoy Meets Ethiopian PM

A02913783.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian president’s special envoy Mohammad Reza Baqeri met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi in Addis Ababa on Friday.

During the meeting, Baqeri extended an invitation from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the Ethiopian premier to pay a visit to Tehran.

Zenawi welcomed Ahmadinejad’s invitation, saying that his country attaches much significance to relations with the Islamic Republic.

Elsewhere, Baqeri, who is visiting Ethiopia at the head of a delegation, attended meetings with Ethiopian foreign minister and parliament speaker.

During the said meetings, the two sides discussed bilateral ties and exchanged views about issues of Palestine, Lebanon and Iraq as well as developments in the Horn of Africa, Somalia in particular.

Baqeri, who is Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, and the Ethiopian officials also discussed expansion of parliamentary cooperation and reopening of the African states’ embassy in Tehran to facilitate economic and trade relations.
