Friendship Association Seeks to Expand Iran-Brazil Ties

A00182128.jpgTEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran-Brazil Friendship Association in a meeting here on Sunday explored avenues for the expansion of the two countries’ relations.

During the meeting, the association’s vice-chairman and secretary said that Iran and Brazil enjoy the needed potentials to promote their trade balance to the ceiling of USD10bln annually.

Mir Ghasem Momeni further pointed to the lack of independent and capable policy-making to make the required arrangements in cultural, economic and scientific areas as among the main impediments to the expansion of the two countries’ relations.

He also said that a monopoly of a limited number of businessmen on Iran-Brazil trade relations has inflicted an astonishing loss on the two states’ macro-scale economic interests.

Elsewhere, in the session, Foreign Ministry’s General Director for Latin America said Brazil can serve as a good foothold for Iran in Latin America, along with Venezuela.

Ahmad Sobhani also pointed to a lack of knowledge of Iranian businessmen about Brazil’s market as among the main problems on the way of the expansion of two countries’ economic relations.

He called for exchange of delegations and traveling tours to solve the aforesaid problem.

Other participants in the meeting stressed the need for strategic views and plans for the expansion of economic as well as cultural relations with Brazil, which they stressed enjoys high potentials in all the different grounds.
