On a visit to the Alba smelter, Manouchehr Mottaki praised Alba’s position on the world industrial map and emphasized the possibilities for cooperation between the Iranian aluminum industries and Bahrain to bolster bilateral trade relations between the two countries.

He also suggested that the possibilities of Bahrain exporting calcined coke and importing raw materials from Iran could be explored in the future.

The Iranian foreign minister, who was in Bahrain on an official visit, made his comments following the visit to smelter where he was received by Alba chief executive Ahmed Saleh Al Noaimi and deputy chief executive Mahmood Al Daylami.

The visiting delegation was offered a comprehensive tour of the plant’s facilities as well as a detailed overview of Alba’s development into one of the largest modern smelters in the world and its plans for the future.

Following the tour, Mottaki praised the prominent position Alba enjoys among the international aluminum industry as well as the sophisticated technology used at the plant.

He also praised Alba’s long-standing commitment to the environment and its impressive success in implementing environmental protection programs alongside a resolute commitment to quality.

“The visit by the Iranian foreign minister to Alba underscores the close cooperation between Bahrain and Iran on various fronts,” said Mr. Al Noaimi.

“This includes economic cooperation. The Iranian aluminum market is estimated to be worth approximately 20,000 metric tons.”

“During the visit, we also held discussions on developments in the aluminum industry and the potential for mutual cooperation,” he added.

“The discussions covered preliminary understanding over the possibilities of exchanging information and expertise in the field of aluminum production.”

Mr. Al Noaimi also praised the minister’s visit which, he said, could help further develop cooperation between the two counties in key industries.
