TEHRAN (FNA) Iranian Parliament Speaker Gholam Ali Haddad Adel said US President George Bush would fail in attaining the goal of his visit to the Mideast region as Washington’s plot for portraying a frightening picture of Iran is destined to failure.
Addressing an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here on Tuesday, the speaker reminded that the same plot has been pursued by the US ever since the onset of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, but to no avail.
“Despite the failure of this plan, George Bush is still striving to make some achievements during this trip through levying insults at Iran, but he doesn’t know that justice-seeking, defending the oppressed, supporting independence of regional countries and opposition to the US hegemony are the secret to Iran’s power,” he said, adding that the US stands on the opposite side of such values.
Reminding that the difference between Iran and the US lies in their approach and treatment of the values, he said that the US oppresses other nations and shows an irrational attitude, including its support for the Qods occupying regime (Israel) in trampling the rights of Palestinians and Muslims.
The chief legislator reiterated that the US president may not attain the said goal in his Mideast tour, stressing that Iran’s “divine power cannot be harnessed and the US president will not obtain any fruit.”
