Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly here today, rapporteur of the parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Kazem Jalali said that the Iranian delegation is due to attend a two-day meeting of parliament speakers of the Islamic countries in Cairo next week.

He said that issues of Palestine, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria as well as cultural issues and economic cooperation among Muslim states will top the agenda of the meeting, adding that the Iranian delegation is due to present 6 proposals to the participants.

Asked if Haddad Adel and his accompanying delegation would attend a meeting with senior Egyptian officials, specially President Hosni Mubarak, the legislator said that a follow-up to Iran-Egypt bilateral issues has also been included in the itinerary of the delegation.

Jalali reiterated the strong resolve of Tehran and Cairo to resume ties.

Haddad Adel will be the first senior Iranian official to pay an official visit to Egypt ever since the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
