Azeri President Welcomes Iran’s OIC Proposal

A00234353.jpgTEHRAN (FNA) – Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Iran’s call for holding an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

Aliyev also said that his country is ready to hold a security meeting to be attended by the Caspian Sea littoral states in Baku, Press TV reported.

Aliyev made the above remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on the sidelines of World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Mottaki, for his part, said that the time is ripe for holding an OIC extraordinary meeting due to the Zionist regime’s crimes against Palestinians and imposing an economic siege on Palestinians.

The two officials also discussed issues related to latest Middle East developments, particularly Iraq and Palestine.

Aliyev pointed out that exchange of media and parliamentary delegations can pave the way for strengthening of ties between Iran and Azerbaijan.
