The Islamic world should not be dependent on the Western countries forever. The West should not be allowed to behave toward Muslims in any way it chooses, Haddad Adel said in a meeting with deputy Azeri chairman of the Iran-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Eldar Ibrahimov in Tehran.

He pointed to Iran’s recent scientific achievements including the domestically-produced sounding rocket, dubbed Kavoshgar (Explorer) I, which blasted into space Monday, and expressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with all friendly Islamic countries.

Kavoshgar I was launched as a preliminary step towards sending the ‘Omid Satellite’ into orbit. Omid is the first advanced scientific research satellite exclusively designed and made by Iranian scientists.

Haddad Adel also stressed the importance of bolstering Iran’s ties and cooperation with Azerbaijan in all fields in light of the deep-rooted historic and religious aspects of their common cultures. He said the two countries should be cautious about any possible damage to bilateral relations.

Ibrahimov, for his part, said that Azeri senior officials have a resolve to promote all-out ties with Iran, adding that Iranian experts have carried out developmental, industrial and economic projects in Azerbaijan.

He thanked Iran for its support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
