Rahmon Pleased with Iran-Tajikistan Ties

A02556049.jpgTEHRAN (FNA) – Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon here Sunday voiced pleasure with the desirable prospects awaiting Tehran-Dushanbe relations.Speaking to reporters following talks with his Iranian counterpart, the Tajik president said his visit to Tehran aims to promote the two countries’ mutual ties and cooperation.

He extended his country’s congratulations to the Iranian people and officials on the occasion of the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Iran.

Rahmon further expressed satisfaction with the agreements gained during his two-day talks with senior Iranian officials.

“We had close views about energy, transportation, scientific and cultural issues as well as launch of joint ventures, rapid completion of Tajikistan’s power plant, and ways of fighting against drug trafficking and terrorism,” he said.

Rahmon also pointed out that during his talks with the Islamic Republic officials, the two sides have discussed trilateral cooperation among Iran, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

To conclude his remarks, the Tajik president extended an invitation to his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to pay a state visit to Dushanbe in a bid to further expand the two countries’ ties and cooperation.
